She obtained an additional year of study from the University of Victoria in British Columbia in the field of human clinical neuropsychology.

She has worked as a psychologist in a wide variety of settings, such as clinics, hospitals, schools and private practice. During that time she also served as a volunteer faculty teacher with the UCSD School of Medicine Department of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, as chief psychologist for Head Start East County, as a clinical supervisor for pre-doctoral psychology interns, as a Board Member of the San Diego Psychological Association, and member of the Ethics committee for SDPA. She has provided expert testimony in child custody disputes.

Adult Therapy

Having a solid understanding of development allows a therapist to understand the issues and conflicts an adult struggles with  in one's lifetime.  Many adult therapies base their treatment planning  on those early factors that  existed  in one's childhood.   Allowing oneself greater self awareness of one's feelings and thoughts then enables a person to express himself or herself to others in a more genuine and gratifying manner.  Certain behaviors can be alleviated in this same way.

Child Therapy:

No matter what the reason that brings a child in for an initial assessment, Dr. Squire approaches every child as a whole child who is immersed in his or her family, school and community. To fully understand a child, one must consider all those experiences that affect a child emotionally, socially and cognitively. These influences all contribute to a child’s mosaic of strengths and needs.

A very large part of Dr. Squire’s assessment practice has been to understand those children who may be struggling in school or with family and friends. Some of these children bear an anxious or sad burden when their intellectual abilities interfere with their emotional ones, and these times can cause stress. A whole child approach at these times fully illuminates the child’s strengths and needs and treatment plans can be made to help at just the right level.

Parent Consultation:

Often, parent consultation and guidance often answers questions and helps with age appropriate discipline and communication. Parents often gain a deeper awareness of their child and are able to make strong, successful connections as the child feels understood. Dr. Squire looks forward to meeting you and working collaboratively with you to make your life healthier and happier. A journey begins with a single step.
